Why I’m so mad about “The Secret” 1/26/2007
Posted by Brett McFall in : General , trackbackYou’re not being told the full story.
I don’t know if you’ve been caught up in the wave of interest and excitement over the “docu-movie” sweeping the world, “The Secret” - but chances are you’re going to hear about it very soon if you haven’t.
There is something about it which I feel I have to say.
Here’s why…
“The Secret” is a video presentation which you can buy on DVD from hundreds of places on the internet. Just type in “The Secret” to a search engine and you’ll see what I mean.
In a nutshell, “The Secret” is about the Law of Attraction. Which basically states that what you think about often enough, eventually comes to pass. Meaning you can actually create your “world.” In fact, you already have.
It’s about focusing you mind on what you want, instead of what you don’t.
Bottomline is, I agree with it.
In fact, I think the presentation is fantastic. I know I’ve certainly seen some amazing things happen in my life, due to applying the things which are taught in “The Secret.”
Goodness, even in its smallest form - when it comes to parking the car, I never have to wait more than a minute to get a space - even on the busiest days and even when there are heaps of other cars all swarming around looking for a park too. And once you’ve seen the video, you’ll understand what I’m talking about.
But that brings me to my frustration with what I’m hearing from people who HAVE seen it, and are who preaching about it to others.
See the main focus of “The Secret” is about using your mind to create your life. It’s about imagining what you want so vividly, so emotionally, so realistically, that you actually contribute to bringing it about.
Now I’ve seen a lot of things happen to myself and to others, which makes you think, “hmmm, this stuff actually works.”
In fact, the people I meet around the world who are super successful ALL DO have this quality about them - this quality of knowing exactly what they want and believing fully that it will happen. Which it invariably does.
Now, I’m not heavily religious. I’m not a fan of religous folks who believe their way is the only way. And in the same way, I’m not a fan of people who are now holding up “The Secret” as the total solution to their unhappy lives.
I think people in my position need to be very careful with what we recommend, and with the advice we give.
Why?
There are a lot of people out there who are in desperate situations, and so they need the most accurate advice, if they are to truly turn their lives around.
Let’s face it: I don’t know YOU. I don’t know your qualities. I don’t know your personality … your fears … your knowledge level … or even your commitment level.
And ALL are factors which will play a role in your future success.
So to teach you that all you have to do is dream big about what you want, in order for it to happen … I think is irresponsible.
The reason I believe this is that I know there is ANOTHER quality you must have if “The Secret” is truly going to work in your life.
Yet hardly anyone tells you what I’m about to tell you … in fact, I can’t even think of someone who has made more than a brief hint at it.
Yes, you have to have FAITH that what you’re focusing on will come true.
But for me, there is too much focus on the airy-fairy stuff … the stuff that makes you feel great inside (”just keep dreaming about it and it will happen“) but which robs you of TAKING RESPONSIBILITY for your life.
And I truly hate people being led down a path that could hurt them even more than the one they’re on.
After all, failure only breeds cyncism. So the more you fail, the worse you feel. The worse you feel, the worse things get.
That’s why I feel I have to make the following point, because without it, you … if you’re following “The Secret” and wondering why it’s not working … could end up very disillusioned. And the results of having that in your life could be major.
MY ADVICE IS THIS:
Dream all you want.
Focus on what you want.
Create as many incantations as you want.
Meditate as much as you want.
But please … please … please…
Take some bloody ACTION of your own.
The core message of “The Secret” is to use your mind and soul to help make things happen. I can tell you that every successful person I know (and many, many multi-millionaires) do use this - BUT THEY ALSO DO ONE OTHER THING EVERYTIME TOO:
They take
- massive action
on their dreams.
They do not wait for the “heavens” to make it happen. THEY make it happen.
This is where they get their TRUE power from. “The Secret” is only half the story. When it’s mixed with MASSIVE action towards your goals … man, wait till you see what happens.
It will explode your mind and take your life in directions that right now seem impossilble.
That’s the true secret. Not sitting at home waiting for the gods to help you, but helping yourself so that EVERY part of you is pulling you in the one direction.
Now, it’s not that folks at “The Secret” have left this part out, but they have truly glossed over it … and focused everyone’s attention on the “dreamy” side.
Meaning that people who do not take the action I’ve suggested, will still be lost. And oh wait, maybe they’ll have to buy more products from “The Secret” in order to “truly” understand. Hmmm, I wonder.
Nothing … and I really mean this… takes the place of YOU taking full responsiblity for your life. And that means, imagining what you want … but then asking yourself what YOU are going to do to help make that dream happen.
So that’s the core message - TAKE ACTION to make your dreams happen.
But let’s look at it another way: Let’s say that what you’re focusing on right now actually comes about very shortly. Great.
But if you’ve reached your goal and you haven’t actually done any work in order to get it, you’ll actually begin to feel another human emotion very, very quickly. And this one is a killer.
It’s GUILT.
Strange, but true. And we hate guilt.
In fact, we hate it so much that you will self-sabotage yourself until the guilt goes away … along with your dream. This is absolutely for certain, no matter who you are.
See understanding how your mind works is very important. Your mind can focus on anything it wants, and help it to come about. But after you achieve that goal, the brain doesn’t shut off and say “okay, have a nice day.”
It’s still there. And still follows the same principles as it follows right now. Meaning, there are certain things we have to do as humans in order to feel good. To feel satisfied. To feel fulfilled. To feel like we are worthy.
And contribution is one of these key things. Meaning we love to feel that we deserve what we have. Because we’ve contributed something. We’ve taken action to make something happen. Know what I mean? Ever experienced this yourself?
Believe it or not, we DO NOT like to have everything done for us. By the “universe” or by other people. We love the challenge … we love the journey… and we love looking back on a job well done.
And guess the only way to ensure that happens?
TAKING ACTION.
What are your dreams?
What are your goals right now?
Whatever they are, use “The Secret” definitely… have faith that things will happen in amazing ways, BUT then commit to taking your own first step towards making it happen yourself.
I think in the Bible it says that God helps those who help themselves.
So true.
And whether you believe in God… or the “universe” … or “energy” doesn’t much matter to me. But I do know that you will receive all the help you need after … and only after … you take MASSIVE ACTION yourself.
There I’ve said it. And happy to hear your comments too.
Warmly
Brett
P.S. Now if you haven’t got it already, then get yourself a copy of “The Secret.” Combined with what I’ve just told you, you’ll be unstoppable. Seriously.

Hi Brett
Good on you for your observations. This is something I have been observing for a while and it reminds me of a story.
About 10 years ago I was living in a small village in New Guinea for a few weeks, doing volunteer work in a little health centre. I got to travel from village to village and met many locals who would tell me stories of events happening in other villages (a very efficient grapevine).
While I was there, all of the villagers in a small village had decided to throw all of their belongings into the pit toilets and burn other belongings.
The theory was that if they went back to having nothing, as they did before the war, presents and riches would drop from the sky - just as they did during the war when parcels of food etc would be dropped from planes. All they needed to do was truly believe. This had a name - “Cargo Culture”.
I see so many similarities with the way many people approach the
techniques taught in “The Secret”, “What the Bleep” and “You were born rich”. That if you truly just believe, it will all happen. Of course, the cargo never fell from the sky again, and a whole village was left confused and dissappointed.
The same confusion and disappointment is inevitable if people treat the power of manifesting with the same “cargo culture” mentality. I agree with you whole-heartedly Brett.
I have found that by using the techniques in “The Secret” and truly imagining what you want - it is then so easy to find the motivation to take that massive action and create that reality yourself. You just need to realise there is that
second step.

Hey Brett,
So glad to hear someone saying this.
Thanks for being ‘brave’ enough to shatter a few “success with no work” dreams, while still supporting the overall Attraction principle.
What you have said has helped settle a few things in my own mind that was a little concerned about the seeming disparity between what was talked about in The Secret, and what is actually being experienced by me and those around me.
thanks again,
Tim
Hi Brett,
Well spoken Brett! Powerful post. I agree with you.
I love “The Secret” and think it is great to help people with the concepts of Faith, Mindset, Attraction etc.
You “hit the nail on the head” writing what is absolutely necessary to
become truly, authentically successful is MASSIVE ACTION.
Contribution is also critical to success feeding one’s soul with a will &
purpose to live and work from.
Have an awesome weekend,
Deborah
Brett, You have totally missed the point of The Secret.
Did you miss the part where they said “When you have an inspired thought you have to trust it and act on it.”
I think the movie clearly makes the point that living in this mindset means listening to what the universe offers you in response to your intention.
It clearly states a simple rule: ASK-ANSWER (the universe will do this part)-RECEIVE. You must receive.
I think this is the ultimate in taking responsibility. It starts by having a clear intention, focusing on it, and receiving the offers of the universe when they are placed in from of us.
I think many time things are offered to us and if we are not in the mindset to receive–they pass right by.
I think if you don’t get the whole “Secret” this part could be missed and you could see things the way you did. Watch it again. It is all very clear.
Thanks and best of luck to you,
Dayna
Hi Brett
Very Good.
I have a formula for success (or whatever it is you want).
5% + 10% + 85% = 100%
Now substitute the numbers with the following.
Problem (5%) + Solution (10%) + Action (85%) = SUCCESS (or whatever it is
you want).
It’s easy to recognise a problem to solve - it’s eay to come up with a
solution. The hardest part is actually taking action to solve the problem.
As you can see the problem and solution make up less than 15% of success.
85% or the major part of Success is ACTION.
So therefore I believe those that can take action to solve a problem will
enjoy success.

Hi Brett,
Tim Clarke here from Tahmoor Australia
Brett, you have done it again. You have hit the truth right on the nose
The secret lies within the person who is willing to take action and
massive action will create what ever you want.
I marry Faith with Thought, and mix the action in to achieve massive results - Brett’ your information & inspiration is fantastic
Thank you.
Brett … Fantastic work yet again!!!
Its about time that someone came out and stated this simple truth.
Whilst I attribute much of my SUCCESS to the Secret (Law Of Attraction) and am a great believer in it … I also discovered that the real secret to The Law of AttrACTION is actually hidden in the word itself.
Setting powerful intentions, and developing laser like mental focus mixed with empowering positive emotions is indeed the key to success … but it is greatly enhanced with massive action.
Thanks again Brett!

Hi Brett,
It is sooo important to emphasize the action and responsibility for your own life. If any one misses that part of the message rest will not work by it self.
As you said “The Secret” has that message but it is not pronounced
strongly enough. You are doing good things buy reiterating that point. Let me remind you of an old joke:
“Charley prays to God to win on a lottery….and he prayed … and he
payed….for months…with no luck. Until one day God came to him and said: ” Charily how about if you at least buy a lottery ticket?”. ‘
Poor guy has done all things right but one????
Know what you want, believe in your self seeing your self with the end
resalt knowing that you will be supported from above TAKE MASSIVE ACTION make it happen and …..call friends over for a beer.
Brett thanks for your support.

Hi there Brett,
I truly think you have “hit the nail on the head” here. “The Secret” did make mention of action, but it wasn’t strong enough and waiting to “receive” is exactly the problem… often our mind is too full of nonsense even to hear or see if God himself came and stood beside us, guiding us step-by-step.
I truly believe that you can only get what you want when you “apply the works to the faith” and I don’t even agree with those who say all you have then is a dream. I think it goes deeper than this and would go as far as saying, “all you have is fear.”
It really is a matter of “show me your works, and I’ll show you your faith.” I won’t take credit for this one - I heard it from someone else, but it makes perfect sense!
Anyway, thanks so much for your encouragement Brett. I’m off to do some “faith- works” today!!

Brett,
Nice one mate, I’m glad you’re telling the masses how it is. I truly believe in the Law of Attraction and all it can give you, but without massive action you can believe as much as you want - it won’t get you anywhere. That’s why I wrote an ebook about… taking massive action!
If you go after what you want in life with a massive desire to get it, with the firm belief that you WILL get it and you take action to move closer to it each and every day then the world is your oyster. You might meet failure along the way but, if you treat failure the way you should (learn from it! Failure is telling you there’s something wrong with the process you’ve created) then your success is all but guaranteed.

Brett,
You talk about taking responsibility, - what about all
those 20 page sales letters that promise the earth? At best they
maybe contain a line that says “of course you’ll need to do some work…”, at worst they make no mention of it.
Now I would agree that anyone reading it should realise that they
are going to have to take some action - but if all the copywriters spent as much time detailling the work (action) required, as they do
on the promises of endless wealth, conversion rates would fall to record lows.
Fact is, they use just about every trick in the book to get conversion rates up, and if that means glossing over the work/effort/investment required, so be it.
So copywriters, marketers and gurus should take a little responsibility as well.
I would love you to write (or re-write an existing) sales letter, using an equal split of pages on the rewards and the details of the work/investment capital required - in other words, the up side and the downside.
Hi Brett
Great article and I totally agree with what you say about taking full responsibility for your life and taking action.
However I think “The Secret” does talk about both points.
In the film, Joe Vitale says that people think they aren’t responsible for attracting the ‘bad’ things into their life and says:
“Well, I’m here to be pretty much in your face and tell you, you are”.
I also think there is clear indication in the “Three Steps” they talk about that you need to take action. Wallace D. Wattles writes about this in “The Science of Getting Rich” which you can download from “The Secret” website.
Step 1. Ask (through your thoughts and feelings)
Step 2. The Answer (God/The Universe/whatever responds)
Step 3. Recieve (bring yourself into alignment)
Now that third step isn’t just about sitting around.
When inspired thought is received or opportunity arises you must act upon it!
Jack Canfield talks about this in the film, saying that he got inspiration about how to make $100,000. He was then sufficiently aware to notice the opportunities he was presented with when they came along and he took action. If he hadn’t had the desire or actually taken action to get the book together, when the opportunity came along it would have just gone past him.
One of the key phrases in “The Secret” is “Thoughts become things”, which I agree with. BUT I feel that T. Harv Eker in “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” highlights the specifics of HOW thoughts become things:
“Thoughts become feelings become actions become results”.
But as Napoleon Hill says in “Think and Grow Rich”:
“Everything is hidden in plain sight”…
…so maybe those READY to discover “The Secret” will see it and those with their mind filters still firmly in place will see it as another thing to blame when it doesn’t work for them.
Keep the fantastic articles coming and I look forward to catching up when you are next in the UK.
All the best
Paul
PS. Me and the kids use the Law of Attraction for parking the car all the time!
PPS. Nothing to do with “The Secret”, but take a look on my blog if you want to see Philly singing Jingle Bells in Picadilly Circus, London
Interesting…
Brett, I respect you & your work as you know, the ‘Law of Attraction’ is somewhat familiar to me, better still the ‘Law of Reciprocity’ is also somewhat familiar to me, one small point no-one has mentioned is the fundamental ‘Law of Gratitude’ without it the ‘Law of Attraction’ is without a direction. I have seen many people follow the “TAKE MASSIVE ACTION” theory, and without proper guidence they have wasted alot of time, money & energy without success.
Why? Their purpose was to focus on the solution to their problems, problems which in my experience are 85% mis-guided, you need to focus on your passions, believe in yourself, and be grateful for everything you have right now as you read this, I know for some this is a big ask because a single mindset prevents us from realising the truth, it’s a perspective that will limit your human potential “on all fronts” let me put it this way, why do I know many ‘very RICH’ (yep, there’s that word), successful business people who are practically on their death bed emotionally, and no matter how much money they make it doesn’t change the lack of emotional wealth.
So if your going to ‘TAKE MASSIVE ACTION’ start by changing YOU! How you think, how you treat people & yourself, how you view your own situation, and be very grateful for everything, I can’t explain what effect this will have on you in a blog post (that wouldn’t do it justice) but I can say your world will start to define itself and your purpose will become very clear, your passions will align, and you will begin to understand “TRUE SUCCESS” in all areas of your life, you will then be very surprised what happens next ..
Now your playing with the “Law of Attraction” and it is “FUN” don’t forget that life was not planned to be a job, it was planned to be an experience and one we learn from, enjoy the moment, every moment, start looking at your mindset and work on it, this isn’t easy as we are set in our ways, start focusing on the positives you have in life not the every day negatives you create for yourself.
“CHOICE” itself is an amazing thing when we use a different perspective and then Take Massive Action, with this you can do anything, and I do mean “ANYTHING” ..
Brett - may I add something to what you have said about taking action to achieve your dreams. ACTION also needs PERSISTENCE and maybe “The Secret” helps us with Persistence. If you truly “believe” you can acheieve something, you will stick with it until you get it done.
And I agree with you about the responsibility of us marketers.
John
Hi Brett
I see the theme here is the challenge of taking ACTION. There are many reasons why people do not FEEL like doing the things that naturally lead them to their goals.
I have written a blog called “What The Bleep is The Secret behind Depression” I think it will explain why people need to evolve their perception and how action is no longer an effort, but in fact, a pleasure.
The link is below - Your blog was a great read and has sparked some very healthy debate - thankyou!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts Brett:
Much appreciated.

Hi Brett
Got to say that I agree with you on “The Secret” after having spent along time concentrating on the Law of Attraction… I would recommend all those that still struggle with the “taking action” part to listen to Eckhart Tolle reading “Practising the Power of Now”
Pretty much the ultimate when it comes to “taking responsibility” for life and so much more… Hope this helps
Hi Brett,
I agree with you. The Secret, or the Law of Attraction is very important, but we can’t forget to take action as that is one of the most important aspects of success.
But then again, if you only take physical action and don’t activate the law of attraction, you are likely to give up or shoot for much less than the Universe or the Divine is willing to help provide for you.
I have watched “The Secret,” a couple of times and I do believe they also mention the importance of taking action. I know that Dr. Joe Vitale does now emphasize the importance of taking action in his book, “The Attractor Factor.”
However the Abraham Hicks books specifically demphasize the importance of action and I don’t agree with that at all. At least in their second book. For best results we need a bit of attraction and action. I never heard of any successful person who didn’t take massive action.
You can never be the best tennis player in the world by simply thinking about it. You have to go out and win the matches. That requires physical action.
But what’s so amazing about sports is that what you imagine IMMEDIATELY affects your results. Think the wrong thoughts and your game instantly suffers. Think the right thoughts and you can improve dramatically and instantly. My ebook, “Infinite Tennis,” goes into this in detail.
I have proved it in my own life. When I simply take action and rely on my own skills my results are simply not as good as when I visualize and feel my success and dream big.
To me, action is the physical plane equivalent of thought. So in the inner worlds we only need to imagine or think and the thing we thought about is instantly created, but down here it’s almost always important to take continuous action as well.
There are several people out there who live by the illusion that they don’t need to take action. I know because I host a forum on these kinds of manifestation principles and I’ve seen these misguided beliefs, by people who were not achieving their goals because they thought they didn’t need to also take action.
Some of these misguided people are leaders in the field. I hope some day they’ll get it.
Thanks for sharing your ideas, Roger
Brett
Great post!
I too think The Secret is great but also know that you have to take MASSIVE ACTION in order to become what you dream about.
People that don’t believe in The Secret are in general people who aren’t prepared to take that MASSIVE ACTION or to CHANGE.
Keep the posts coming
Hi Brett,
Great blog entry.
Just so that you know though : THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE IN THE BIBLE WHERE IT SAYS “God helps those who help themselves.â€
The truth of the matter is that God helps those who CANNOT help themselves.
But, even moreso, God uses US…people…as his “body†on earth. We cannot turn around and say that God is doing nothing to help when there is enough food in the world to wipe out starvation, yet it is controlled by 20% of the world and not used to feed the starving. There is enough money in the world to eliminate poverty, yet it is held by 20% of the richest people in the world.
It is mentioned that you’re not really a religious person yet there are some pretty strong views expressed about religion. Plus GOD is refered to quite a bit.
I’m sorry Brett, but if there’s going to be references to religion then those “in the know†need to at least be consulted with. Business tips, ideas, and products aren’t shared with us unless knowledge of them has been attained. So why is religion different?
I FIRMLY believe that ACTION is a prerequisite, but we who are able have a corporate responsibility to those who are not yet able.
I am building an internet business from the ground up with next to zero money because of my extremely low income. It has also taken me over 45 years to develop the confidence I need to pursue my dreams and what I believe in. My dream, and this is MY OWN dream, is that I can develop multiple streams of income and develop wealth that I can use to not only provide for my family, with an abundant lifestyle, but also to fund community projects, missionary work that helps the poor, etc. etc.
SO I FIRMLY BELIEVE IN ACTION. Yet I see so many people who see themselves as worthless and lack so much, including confidence, due to circumstances of life. I also don’t believe in the idea that “they’re poor and because they won’t get off their __________ and work!†Some people can’t take action yet or are so used to thinking and seeing things negatively, sometimes by total choice, sometimes by lifes knocks, that thinking positively just isn’t in their vocabulary.
Please don’t get me wrong, I attended the World Internet Summit in September 2006 in Las Vegas and met you personally -
(by the way, to everyone out there, UNLESS YOU GO TO THE WORLD INTERNET SUMMIT, you’re just going to spend another two years trying to learn what you REALLY need to do, so stop waisting time and book into the next one! - You’ll never regret it!).
I REALLY admire you Brett and I relish every word of advice you give, but please either don’t bring religion into the equation OR make a commitment of your life to God and learn what it’s REALLY, REALLY all about.
I agree with Pete Moring when he said that YOU are one of the very few people who can be trusted in this internet business world, and I also thank you for having me on your list.
AND, like I learned from you at the WORLD INTERNET SUMMIT, “Don’t do anything without promoting your business site along with it.â€

Hi Bret,
Great thoughts and very true, some are afraid to fail- the “what if”- take action, evalute the plan along the way, do the numbers but allow enough time to learn.
Looking forward to meeting you at WIS in march

Hi Bret,
Yeah I also think you missed the point of the ’secret’ too, in relation to action… The whole idea of the law of attraction is to attract the circumstances and situations so you can take the RIGHT action.
Tony Robbins always talks ‘massive action’ and yeah you have to do it, but within the model of 1. Clear Outcome, 2. Take Massive Action, 3. Measure Feedback, 4. Change as Needed (behavioural flexibility).
Now, following the secret…. Unless you get clear on your outcome (what you want), massive action is a waste of resources because following the secret will give you the RIGHT action to take to get what you want, rather than jumping up and down 100 times.
Why would you take massive action when most of it will be wasted doing the wrong things? Actions that are not streamlined and in alignment with what you want are wasted…. Actions that you are ‘told’ to take by the universe so to speak are the right actions…
SO GO BALISTIC ON THEM!
And, you must follow steps 3 (measure feedback) and 4 (change your behavour as needed) in order to get what you want (manifested) as fast as possbile with the least resources.
So, yes you are right by saying take massive action… the first massive action to take is to get clear about what you want, declare it to the universe and be in ‘receiving’ mode so you get it.
I disagree that the secret is hairy fairy. It is very concrete and sensate (or haven’t you driven your ferrari yet?) and it clearly tells everyone that they must TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for their thoughts, feelings and actions as they are creating their reality - good or bad.
Please watch the secret again and ‘comtemplate’ each statement they make… and you will see that they are telling you to take action ON THE MESSAGES YOU RECEIVE FROM XXXX (INSERT YOUR OWN GOD HERE!).
I could go on and on about this stuff because I have been studying and applying it for around 30 years, but?????

I liked your message today, Brett, and appreciated reading everyone’s comments. You’ve given me much to think on and a bit of a nudge to get busy. Thanks. Hope you have a great weekend!
Thanks Brett - good post.
The timing for watching “The Secret” was significant for me, because I had just finished reading Dan Kennedy’s latest newsletter, in which he talks about the preciousness of time and what we do with it. Put that together with John Carlton’s latest “Rant” in which he talks about the value of FOCUS. Those two things neatly magnified the “taking action” part of “The Secret”, which you and several others have commented is bit weak. The three just somehow came together beautifully:-)
Cheers

Hi Brett,
Firstly, thank-you for inviting me to share your thoughts on ‘The Secret’. I watched ‘The Secret’ for the first time on New Years Day 2007. Everything that had come to pass in the events of my life then fell into place like the last few pieces of a puzzle. I realized that I had just received what I had been seeking, that ‘thing’ that I’d been screaming out for – answers. The thing is, I already knew the answers, viewing ‘The Secret’ helped me see that.
You talk about what is ‘missing’ from ‘The Secret’ – Faith. I viewed it quite the opposite way.. The fact is, faith is the key element to understanding ‘The Secret’.This is not some kind of new technology being released upon the world, The Law of Attraction has been working all our lives, all our parents lives, all their parents lives and so on. And it continues to work, for you, me, your next-door neighbour, the mailman, the crying baby and so on, and so on. “The Secret†by Rhonda Byrne demonstrates beautifully how we can make postive changes in our lives which enable us to reach our own full potential. How many times have you heard people negate themselves; ‘I’m not good enough’, ‘That’s too hard’, ‘I can’t’, ‘I’m so stressed’, and so on, and so on, and so on…?? How much of an impact would you feel from a postive person saying such things as, ‘I did it!’, ‘This is easy!’, ‘I can!’, ‘I am calm’, and so on, and so on, and so on…?? I told a neigbour today what a beautiful garden she has. I told her that every time I walk past I stop to enjoy it. I meant it. She smiled the most genuine smile, and invited me to take some clippings. I’ve just bought a house recently, I’m arranging my garden. Now I have something to plant – thank-you. The Law of Attraction works like this every second, of every day, for each and every one of us. I recognized it in action today, just as all those wonderful speakers on ‘The Secret’ have told their stories too. They all said, in one way or another, to have Faith. In order to get what you want, you need to know what it is. We all must ‘prepare’ for that which we have asked, so of course we are moving in the direction to receive it. This is one of the key points to remember, ask, prepare to receive, receive and be thankful. We have an idea, then we have faith that our idea will become a reality because we believe in ourselves. Faith.
I invite you to visit http://www.3ch.cjb.net for further information relating to this topic.
Have a Great Day.

Yeah you have to take massive action and its has to be the right action, but how do you KNOW what the RIGHT action is.

Hi Brett,
I love your take on “The Secret”!
I must say I love “The Secret” from a point of view that it shows you about what it takes to get organized to be successful.
What I mean here is covers the fact that…
1. You have to want to be successful.
2. You have to believe you can be successful
3. You have to build the right mindset in order to build successful.
For me as well I believe it takes the right knowledge and then taking ACTION on that knowledge.
I’ve learnt a lot in the last 3 years about taking ACTION and I believe I’m living proof that if you take the right ACTION you can build the life you desire.
To answer Leon’s question above… this what I’m doing.
1. I wrote down what I wanted in life.
2. I then went out and found some people who have the results I wanted
3. Then I started taking the same ACTION these people have taken. I’ve basically model them.
4. Then Never Give Up!
ACTION. Which when you break it down means to ACT ON.
Have Fun & Take ACTION

P.S. ACTION. Which when you break it down means to ACT ON.
Hi Brett,
This is Abi.
Thanks for this post on “The Secret”. My thanks also to David Cavanagh whose email brought the blog posting to my attenttion. Yes, I know David, you sent the email on the 26th Jan, I’ve just got round to reading my emails:-)
Thank you to everyone who has commented on the post. I have read all the comments. Thank you especially to Dayna (4), Dino (11), Paul Fuggle (12), My2CentsWorth (13), Jane Morris -The Britgroup (19), William Sinclair (20), John Morley (22), Anne (25), Scot Wilson (27).
I was fortunate enough to watch “The Secret” with a large group of people at a Nik Halik seminar in London in December. At the end of the film we stood up and clapped.
I don’t agree that “The Secret” is implying that “… all you have to do is dream big about what you want, in order for it to happen…” THAT REALLY WOULD BE IRRESPONSIBLE. There’s nothing irresponsible about “The Secret”. It is not “airy-fairy stuff…” either.
“The Secret” gives HOPE. It in no way dismissed the need for us to take relevant action to achieve our goal.
Oh, and yes, based on Carnegie’s secret, it is possible to Think and Grow Rich.
Warmly,
Abi
Hi Brett..
For me The Secret message was summed up by Joe Vitale.
“The Universe likes speed, don’t delay, don’t second guess, don’t doubt, when the opportunity is there, when the impulse is there, when the intuituive nudge from within is there, ACT !”
Until that point I had a little niggle in my mind resulting from being called a daydreamer when I was young !
Hi Brett…
I am amazed to read this blog on your website. I attended the World Internet Summit which you organized in Kuala Lumpur late last year. What an amazing program it was.
I had already watched the Secret before the WIS seminar and I was inspired by WIS to venture into online marketing.
Now I have to explain that what I am about to say..you may find it hard to believe. Ever since WIS, I had used the Law of Attraction to set my sights on creating the BEST online business for 2007.
What transpired afterwards is pretty crazy. To cut a long story short, I am now working DIRECTLY with Bob Proctor on launching the follow up sequel to the Secret! This will be the biggest personal development training program ever launched in history and Bob and I are now PARTNERS!
So you see, there is no doubt in my mind that you can use the Law of Attraction to have, do and be anything you want!
Bob even did a personalized video for me. Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdkTsKuzJzo
I am so happy to add this comment on your blog because in many ways, I feel as though I have come full circle now.
Blessings to you,
Brian
