We also selected a winner from the audience for our “Internet Challenge.” Goodness the audience was excited. And just in case you don’t know, the winner of the “Internet Challenge” is the person who we’re creating a product for … and a website - and then marketing it over the course of this weekend.
Here he is - Nate Bunger.

Wanna see what happened?
Plus would you like to find out HOW you can watch World Internet Summit USA LIVE on your computer?

1 day to go… 9/14/2006
Posted by Brett McFall in : General , 1 comment so farWell it’s heating up now. The World Internet Summit crew has arrived. The speakers too. The event room is ready. Which means … I guess we should probably put this seminar on after all, right?Â
Took my little hand held camera with me today to show you some things. Here’s the first video - a brief interview with Michael McCoy (our sound recordist - he’s the guy that makes the CDs of WIS possible), and James Redmond (our camera man who puts the whole event on DVD).
Oh and guess what… a little secret … we’ll be taking the video that James takes of World Internet Summit USA and broadcasting it LIVE over the internet the WHOLE weekend! Yep, if you really wanted to be here, now you can - you’ll be able to watch every second LIVE.
And then watch it over and over again in our archives files! More about this later on today.
Â
And here’s the 2nd video. This time… for the first time ever … we have a professional MC to host World Internet Summit. See, usually, we would host it ourselves. But to pull back on the workload a bit …and to let a professional do what they’re best at, we’re testing out an MC.
His name is Scott Friedman. Tom and I met Scott in Kuala Lumpur earlier this year when we were all speaking at the National Achiever’s Congress. He’s a funny guy and our audience have a real treat ahead of them.
Meet Scott now…
Talk VERY soon - if you’ve liked the posts so far, you’re going to love watching the event unfold over the coming days.
Warmly
Brett
P.S. Thanks for all the great comments! So glad you’re enjoying it. Goodness, even had speakers come up to me today and say how they’re enjoying watching every day unfold too.
2 days to go… 9/12/2006
Posted by Brett McFall in : General , 5 commentsI’m not a real technical person, but I do like playing with cool software like the one I’m going to show you in a moment. It’s allowed me to create a simple video for use at World Internet Summit USA this week. Here’s how I’ve used it:

Guess what else! Charlie Bass, President of the Las Vegas Internet Chamber of Commerce came to visit Tom and I … and we had nice dinner in the Irish pub downstairs - it’s called “Fido” if you happen to be in the area.

Tom Hua, Charlie Bass and I at “Fido” (below)

Charlie has been following Tom and I for a while. He’s got a keen interest in the internet, and in fact it’s his full time income. One internet project he runs is “Talk Radio Las Vegas” which is a show he broadcasts LIVE over the net.
Not long after this photo was taken he invited me to come on his show… and so half an hour later there I was being interviewed by him LIVE. Generated a bit of interest too - there would now be at least 20 people coming to the event from the local area. Always good to have locals.
Also went down to check out the room that we’ll be holding the event at here at Green Valley Ranch. Here’s the name to remember - “El Viento.” Room looks great and will look even better when we get it set up with our stage and theming etc.
Â
And lastly, I’m sure to my American subscribers this is no big surprise. But to outsiders it certainly is…

A burger joint called “Fatburger?” Hmmm… I wonder what they sell? …. Actually their burgers are great - cooked the old fashioned way, fresh on the spot.
Well that’s it for today!
Warmly,
Brett

4 days to go 9/11/2006
Posted by Brett McFall in : General , 4 commentsA little bit of work … a little bit of play in the past 24 hours - hey… you can’t come to Vegas and sit in your hotel room the WHOLE time right!
Here’s a video for you on what Tom Hua and I have been up to in getting ready for World Internet Summit USA.
CLICK THE IMAGE BELOW TO WATCH THE VIDEO
Now what I’ve been trying to do is get the work done in the morning through to around about 2pm, then switch off for a bit. Tom… on the other hand … has been struggling with his sleep patterns, so he’s working / sleeping / working / sleeping (whenever he can get it in - I think we tend to forget how unsettling jet lag is).
Which is why he missed a little relaxing by the pool yesterday afternoon - but I felt it would be a disrespectful to the resort if I didn’t use the facilities right? So I forced myself to lay on a comfy lounge … go for a swim … and yes, try one of their cocktails (for quality control purposes only - actually there were a few other cocktails I should have been monitoring as well).

 Cheers!
And check out these cool cabanas here - they each have lounges inside them … TVs … and fine jet water sprays to keep you cool of course.

So anyway…. took the “little beauty” out last night for a run. Put the top down and cruised down the strip past all the hotels and casinos - a very cool experience I might add. The photo may be a little hard to see… but it’s the Hotel “New York New York” which is like a scale model of the New York the city. Amazing.

And lastly…. what is the deal with cookies in this country? I absolutely love chocolate chip cookies. And here I’ve seen the biggest ever. This one wasn’t one of the biggest I’ve seen but I still found it a lot to eat. But mmm … it was good - it has walnuts in it too.

Anywayz… that’s it for now.

5 days to go … 9/9/2006
Posted by Brett McFall in : General , 21 commentsIÂ woke early this morning (at 4.30am and couldn’t get back to sleep - which is okay because it was 3.30am the night prior - hopefully 5.30am tomorrow as I get used the time zone!) … it’s Saturday here and went for a walk/jog around the resort.
Yes the buffet’s are amazing. Vegas is famous for them. You know what I love about their breakfasts here in the States? I love their “biscuits and country gravy” - wish we could get them back in Australia. But it’s a killer clear day (hopin’ to get down to that pool later on this afternoon actually).

So what’s on the cards today? (other than that pool!)
Well today I need to finish off the manual that we give attendees at World Internet Summit. I create it personally for every event so that it’s current and has every improvement that we make along the way. So I plan to spend about 4 hours on this laptop below…

What’s Tom Hua up to today?
One of the big parts of the “Internet Challenge” that we conduct at every seminar (where we set up a product and market it across the weekend) is the emails that have to be pre-written… the webpages that have to be pre-designed. Why? To save time on stage. Otherwise attendees would be falling asleep in their seats.
See, making the money online is the exciting part. But actually doing some of the internet side can be boring. So we spare the attendees the slow stuff, and take care of mundane parts prior to the seminar. So that …. hopefully … when we promote the product that we create from the Thursday of the seminar through to the Sunday, people buy the offer and get massive value. So this is what Tom is doing today.

And last night a bit of Mexican food didn’t go down too badly at all. And yes, he’s drinking a Margarita (such a tourist!
Hopefully if we both finish our parts early enough today, then we can meet up later and take this little baby for a spin…

Isn’t she a little beauty! Perfect for getting the wind in your hair … well, i think I remember what that used to feel like.
Talk soon!
Brett
